Great Weekend in Penang

A short vacation in Penang last weekend to take part in Penang International Bridge Marathon was nothing special....with a ten ringgit entrance fee, I got the chance to enjoy every inch running on the bridge.

...but to enjoy a good breakfast at this nostalgic Taman Tun Sardon food court, was priceless...

Kalaulah mereka datang

Kalaulah mereka datang
Dah tentu ramai yang tak sedar diri
Mungkin ramai yang ambik cuti
Kalau tak pun ambik MC
Tergedik-gedik di airport macam beruk mabuk todi
Menyambut mat salleh yang tak mandi pagi

Kalaulah mereka datang
Dah tentu kita akan diratah
Piala Asia pun kita dah mengah
Paling kurang 5 gol kita akan dibelasah
Lepas tu pasti ramai yang akan melatah
Tunjuk sana sini mencari salah

Kalaulah mereka datang
Mamak-mamak pasti bergembira
Kerana teh tarik laku berliter-liter
Bermodalkan skrin besar dipinggir jalanraya
Hati akan sedih tidak terkata
Melihat pasukan negara kita berputih mata
Di'jajah' kembali oleh mat salleh durjana
Diambang menyambut perayaan 50 tahun merdeka

Phewww...nasib baiklah diorang tak jadi datang!

Merdeka!
Merdeka!
Merdeka!

Inter Alumni Bowling Competition

Organised by TKC OGA at Sunway Pyramid this morning. Many alumni took part....TCK OGA lah, SDARA lah, STF OGA lah, ex-SMS lah, MCOBA lah....etc. Again, this year, RMC Old Putera Association didn't send any team. Sorry la dik..... bowling is not our game lahhhh. We, Old Puteras prefer some other sports.... errrr...like swim-bike-run (a.k.a. triathlon). Infact most of us were in Port Dickson this morning to participate in PD International Triathlon.

RESULTS: The SSP Old Girls emerged as champion in the women's category. Men's category?......wa pu che tau. Lantak koranglah...hahahaha.

Osman Basir Dalam Kenangan

Hari ini saya ingin menceritakan tentang perihal salah seorang datok kita yang pernah mencipta nama di atas padang sukan iaitu Osman Bin Ngah Basir.

Petikan dari buku "CLIFFORD SCHOOL KUALA KANGSAR 1897 - 1997"

rujuk Bab 1 History Of the School antara m/s 34 - 36, ketika berbincang mengenai penghargaan kepada Gurubesar Clifford Menengah Captain Bernard Preedy ( 1930 - 35 & 1936 -1937) .Nama Osman Basir di sebut sebagai ahli sukan terulung di zamannya...dan pernah bermain hoki dalam pasukan Perak bersama Sultan Azlan Shah .

PREEDY'S PASSIONS - m/s 34

Mr Preedy would spend hours and hours, morning , afternoon and evening coaching boys in hockey, cricket and even studies. His passion being hockey, hockey practise was held most mornings. He concentrated most of his attention on this

game and his efforts were fully rewarded, when for eight years in a row not a single game was lost. Seven players from the school team formed part of the Perak State Team and also the Malayan Team. The players became such experts that Cliffordians dominated the State Hockey XI and many played for the Federated Malay States.

In early 1934 four boys and two teachers were selected to represent Malaya to play in Inter - Port matches at Hong Kong and Macao accompanied by Captain Preedy himself.

Four games were played and Malaya won all matches. The great names were Rahman Ahong, Raja Mohd, Baharom , Osman Basir (Nandok) and two teachers who played for the team were Mr Aladdad Khan and Mr Nicholas Caleb. Verily this was, and always will remain, an unbeatable record for Clifford School for all times.

ATHLETE AND SPORTSMAN EXTRAORDINAIRE

Osman Basir (squating 2nd from right)

The School's Inter School Relay Team became Champions for a few years beating all other School Relay in Perak. It is noteworthy that the athlete and sportsman, Osman bin Basir excelled in athletics by becoming the victor ludorum succesfully for the years 1934, 1935 and 1936.He had created the long jump record of 6.14 m for both the School and the country. The Malayan record was broken after a few years but the School record however, has remained intact until today, that is over a period of 61 years ( setakat sehingga buku ini diterbitkan pada tahun 1997!)

Semoga roh beliau disemadikan bersama roh orang - orang yang beramal salih. Al-Fatihah

Dah sudah

Lega...it's all over. It was not a good race. Reached Dataran Merdeka 5 mins late when everybody has started running. Kat starting point sempat pulak salam and sembang dengan Tok Min, who is the Organising Committee Chairman.

Yes, it was not a good run. I clocked only 1 hr 21 mins. Jalan kaki banyak sebab my heartbeat rate often pass my level 4 limit, ie 166 bpm. Anyway lega la sebab i completed the race.

During the race...kena maintain....

Putrajaya Marathon 2006

This morning we participated again in Putrajaya Marathon. Not like last year, this time we ran 7km only. Yes 7km fun run...hahaha. This time we saw the most participants from our company, out of 16 registered, 11 turned-up and took up the challenge, led by our CEO (P180). This time Kak Jun made a comeback after resting for quite a while...so was Kak Farrah. Among the 'new' faces were our CEO, Dr K, Abg Mat, Nizam and CWZ. And this time also, nobody was hurt or being beaten by orang gila. Everybody did within the qualifying time and some of us walked away with medals ....including one gold medal ;-) I, myself did the 7km in less than 45 mins... kira okay la.

GPS Track Log - marked in yellow and dotted line

Below are some pics snapped via my humble cameraphone (thanks to my ever loyal supporter cum cameraperson)...
