We've got it back!

Syukur....alhamdulillah. Tak terkata lagi dah. Lima bulan penuh debaran menanti akhirnya terjawab jugak. It means a lot to all of us in Surveillance and Air Traffic Management Systems department. It means we are going to exist for at least another two years in KLIA. It means we still have jobs (that we love) to do. It means also nobody is going to get fired. Thanks to all parties who have contributed to this success ... our maintenance team, my loyal assistant manager and newly appointed system supervisor, support staff and groups and last but not least the management. In this new contract, let us work harder and perform better than before.

Good Bye World's Tallest ATC Tower

The Air Traffic Control Tower at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysia has been enjoying the status of the tallest ATC Tower in the world since 1998. However today, 25 Sep 2006, the status will be taken over by ATC tower at new Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK/VTBS) Bangkok, Thailand.

Our New House

I am too busy (translate=lazy) to write, so i republish a posting from Mrs Tigerkun's blog:

I have never dreamt to settle down in Bangi. I took a loan in 2004 and finally moved in to our new house last school holidays.

A kenduri kesyukuran + tahlil + was held last Saturday. A J/V between us + my mother inlaw & aunts/uncles.

Invited close relatives - aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, inlaws (of my husband and me) + few neighbours for the occasion.

Food? Masak sendiri - the hardwork of my mother in-law and aunts + maids...

A day before the kenduri, we went marketing in Kajang. Cheap prawns were bought from Tesco Kajang @ rm9.90/kg, chicken @ rm3.80/kg and frozen local beef @ rm8.00/kg - cool!

We arrived home from the market at 11am and my Carrens were full with all the kenduri stuff. "Puan, air tak de sejak jam 9 pagi!!!" said my maid. Ya Allah.... camna nak buat - nak cuci ayam, daging and the udang... Some more mother in-law bought ketam for lunch. I panickedly called the developer's project's KEPALA "tolonglah sambung balik air kat area rumah saya. Saya nak kenduri ni!!! Saya nak cuci ayam, daging, udang, ketam, ikan...". Then i decided to bring the chickens (6 ekor kesemuanya) to an uncle's house in Putrajaya to be cleaned and kept in their freezer. Petang nanti baru ambik, save one problem. The developer had to temporarily cut down water supply for some joining works in the area. Luckily, the supply came back around 1.30pm.

The kenduri day - an Imam from the nearby mosque was specially booked and invited by my husband to recite the doas and tahlil...he was a very young imam. I've asked my dad to be on standby just incase the Imam didn't turn up. Few relatives got lost but managed to arrive before we started lunch.

Everybody was happy with the food - daging masak kurma, ayam goreng masalla, sayur campur, sambal tumis udang, ikan masin, ulam + sambal belacan, kerabu, nasi putih. We had air oren (supplied by uncle atan) + teh tarik + teh "O" for drinks. Kuehs like lopeh, som-som, baulu kemboja and cut fruits were served to the guests. Zer brought small cup cakes, (Datin) Yong Zawiyah as usual brought her famous kek lapis, aunty Zauyiah supplied koleh kacang lapis, last but not least aunty Rusni & aunty (Datin) Jun came with their puddings! What a feast!

Dato' Amran Hamid (whom my father said must be invited) commented "Saya datang sebab dengar cerita masak lauk sendiri... your mum in-law's a good cook! But do you know that her grandma cooks even better?" I stumbled and smiled. Dato' also asked me whether i have met my mother-in law's grandma....of course not lah Dato'. My husband said that his great grandma passed away in 1982. I only got married in 1991.

To those who came and helped us throughout the kenduri, thank you from the bottom of my heart. To those who could not make it (Aya,Azra) sudi-sudikanlah menatap gambar-gambar di atas :-)

How i wish my mum and father in-law were around .....

Putrajaya Marathon 2006

This morning we participated again in Putrajaya Marathon. Not like last year, this time we ran 7km only. Yes 7km fun run...hahaha. This time we saw the most participants from our company, out of 16 registered, 11 turned-up and took up the challenge, led by our CEO (P180). This time Kak Jun made a comeback after resting for quite a while...so was Kak Farrah. Among the 'new' faces were our CEO, Dr K, Abg Mat, Nizam and CWZ. And this time also, nobody was hurt or being beaten by orang gila. Everybody did within the qualifying time and some of us walked away with medals ....including one gold medal ;-) I, myself did the 7km in less than 45 mins... kira okay la.

Bangi Kopitiam

Bangi dah ada kopitiam. Walaupun rasa kopinya tak se-kaw Old Town Kopitiam, kira okay la, sebab dekat rumah. Ada la jugak tempat untuk melepak malam-malam.

Morning Time In My Garden

The phrase "Morning Time In My Garden" was famously heard when I was in the airforce. It means that - in the morning time, a person will still be in his or her garden ... have a cuppa, staring at the plants or even talking to the flowers (like what Prince Charles likes to do) instead of going early to work. It is also another way of telling "I'll be late to work".

Malaysia's astronauts: UKM doctor, army dental officer set for space

PETALING JAYA: Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, 34, of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and army dental officer Dr Faiz Khaleed, 36, have been picked as the two Malaysian astronaut candididates.

SET FOR SPACE: Muszaphar (left) and Faiz.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Congratulation to both of you. If only I passed the first 3.5km run test..... tak merasa la korang... hehehe

Merdeka Cycle And Hunt Putrajaya

Last Saturday morning i and my two cousins took part in the above event in Putrajaya. It was a treasure hunt ride with 4 riders in a team. There were eight teams all together organised by Precint 9 Cycling Club a.k.a. Kelab Kayuh Kuat, organised by Abang Sulaiman. I was in team Kayuh Kuat C, bearing number 083, together with my cousins Shazni and Aizat and their friend, Bob. Other than Kelab Kayuh Kuat, there were teams from Kem. Kesihatan, Jabatan Bomba (siap bawak walkie-talkie lagi...misuse of govt properties??) and other cycling clubs.

We were flagged off from Putrajaya Wetland at 8.15am and the checkpoints were Alamanda ---> Taman Warisan Pertanian ---> Dataran Putra ---> Pusat Rekreasi Air Taman Wetland ---> and finished at Taman Wetland. We were given questionaires and riddles to be solved at each checkpoint. Total distance covered were around 18 km. All the eight teams under Kelab Kayuh Kuat co-operated each other to solve all riddles and tasks given and alhamdulillah, we won the first five top prizes which the first prize were Proton Bikes for all the four team members. I was just lucky enough to get 4th place...hamper aja, jadi laaaa.










Thank you Abang Sulaiman for inviting me to join the race. I have another race on the next 10th Sep, ...... i.e. Putrajaya Marathon. This time must bring back medal maaaaaa.
